The Relay for Life has been an event we all have been preparing for and looking forward to all year. For the past few months, the girls and I have all been working very hard to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Our team goal was to raise $1,000 but i am very proud to say that we raised more than that, close to $1,500!
As soon as we got to Memorial Boulevard School, we started setting up our campsite for the night. (Eventhough it was pretty rainy and cold, we set up tents and were all set to go.) The Relay started out with a Survivor lap which was very emotional for some of us. After that, the walking began. Although Kristina and I were the olny ones brave enough to suvive the night, we were joined by my mom, Jill's mom, and Mike. We had so much fun hahaa...Then around 3:30 am Emma's mom came with coffee to get all of our energy going again. After that plus more walking, Jill and her dad came with more coffee at about 6:00 am.

We all had so much fun and I cannot wait to participate in the relay again next year. I would like to thank all my friends and family for donating to my team...love you guys so much! I also would like to thank Miss. Rivard for organizing another great event! :)

Happy Memorial Day! The girls and I had two parades to attend on this busy day. Since I was little I have always been in the parades whether I was dancing with my dance studio or sitting in a car. This year, that didn’t change for the Bristol parade but there was a minor change for the Forestville parade. I had the got to ride in a HORSE DRAWN CARRIGE! I truly felt like a princess and had so much fun.

On this beautiful afternoon, we made our way down to the Memorial Boulevard to celebrate Memorial Day. Lined up and down both sides of the street were all the things all of the services use. I never knew there were so many different trucks and boats and airplanes and other supplies used. On a more serious note, we listened to a soldier that came back from Iraq talk. I would like to take the opportunity once again to thank all of the brave men and women fighting to protect our freedom today.

The proceeds raised tonight all will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Kristina and I had the job of scooping ice cream for the night. (Thank god we have big muscles because its a lot of work, believe me! haha)

I would like to thank everyone that came and got ice cream tonight especially all of my friends and family. Love you guys so much!

Well let’s just say that if you’ve never gone to the Forestville Duck Race, you need to go next year. Even though it was a little rainy today, the weather held of somewhat resulting in a great event as usual. Between the food, vendors, games, and the actual duck race itself, there’s always so much going on at the duck race & I think that’s one of the things I like most about it. Emma and Jill had the opportunity of going to where the race begins and watch the hundreds of ducks get dropped in while Kristina, Que, and I stayed in the center of Forestville to introduce ourselves to everyone and thank the Forestville Village Association for allowing us to be a part of the excellent event. It took about a half hour until the first duck crossed the finish line… a highly anticipated thing!

The girls and I attended the Edgewood Little League Opening Ceremonies today. Each of the baseball teams joined us on the field for the ceremonies. Que beautifully sang the National Anthem & Kristina threw the first pitch. Jill and I helped with the raffle prizes as well. It was perfect weather outside which made the day even better!

Tons of kids along with their stinky sneakers arrived at the Imagination Museum today;  & yes, Kristina, Emma, and I were along with them. (But no, we did not bring our stinky sneakers with us today just in case you were wondering. haha) For this contest, there were judges and everything…their goal of today was to find the stinkiest pair of sneakers in Connecticut. While Emma and I watched the contest take place, we kind of felt bad for Kristina because she was one of the juges…she had to smell all of those stinky sneakers! EW, I know! Haha  Trinette ended up being the winner of the contest and was awarded with $200 and the opportunity to compete in the National Rotten Sneaker Contest. Congrats Trinette!

This was my first time ever attending the Shamrock Run and let me tell you I learned something new...we have some very brave & strong people in Bristol. haha I'll tell you why in a little bit though. Well, Kristina and I started off our day by helping with the childrens race & handing out all of the medals to the little runners. They all had so much fun running! Next came the 2 and 5 mile race...and this is where I learned about the brave and strong people of bristol because some ran both the 2 and 5 mile races one right after another! I couldn't believe it because to tell you the truth, I don't think I'd be able to do that! Kristina and I finished out the seccond half of the day by collecting all the chips from the runners which reccorded their times.

I would like to congratulate the Collins Family as well as the Shamrock Run Committee on organizing such a successful event!

Today we all went to Ski Sundown to help at the Winter Special Olympics.  Since it was snowing, it was perfect for the competitions to take place since they were winter sports!  There were a few different jobs that we got put to work with; Kristina was announcing the awards while Jill, Emma, and I were handing them out.

Everyone at the special olympics always has such a positive attitude (not to mention the energy levels from all the competitors never drop.)  I think thats why i always enjoy participating with this organization.  So i would like to thank the Special Olympics for once again giving me the opportunity of participating with your organization!

This weekend the girls and I got to help out at the home and business show. The first day there we handed out maps of the layout to everyone since there were so many things to see. After handing out maps, we walked around and met many of the business owners and learned about some of the business' of Bristol. There were so many!
On the seccond day we got put to work helping out with the concession stand. Every year the Mum Festival Committee sells all kinds of goodies as a fundraiser for the events on the Mum weekends. We loved helping out with that & had so much fun...the business owners appreciated to as well since they were there all day long.
I'd like to thank the Bristol Chamber of Commerce for allowing us to come and help out at the successful home show they organized.

Happy Valentines Day!  The Imagination Museum hosted the Valentines Day Tea Party today.  All of the kids were dressed up today, including the boys that were there.  (Everyone looked adorable!)  Kristina, Que, Jill, Emma, and I helped pass out snacks while talking to the kids.  Kristina also read a book and we got to help with the butterfly craft.  The butterflies were beautiful!

After we helped clean things up, the museum was opened and we got to help the children make crafts...there were so many options to choose from!

We all had another fun day at the Imagination Museum, as usual!

We had so much fun at this picnic because not only was it just a picnic but everyone brought their teddy bears with them!  Once all of the children got settled wherever they wanted to sit and enjoy their lunches with their friends, we had the opportunity of walking around to talking to everyone.  I met many teddy bears, some of their names were so creative!

Once all of the children were done eating lunch, there were a bunch of different activities that took place.  First, everyone got their picture taken with the giant teddy.  Then a teddy bear story was told as well as the game, pin the nose on the teddy, was played.  We were in charge of the game and everyone did such great job!

Not only did the children have fun at the library today but we did as well!

Freezin' for a Reason was the theme today! Before today, I had never participated in a Penguin Plunge. Our team's name was Queen's Rule and we raised $825!! The total amount of money that was raised was $36,000!!! Thats great!

We started off the day by bundling up and trying to stay as warm as possible since it was freezing out! 96.5's Damon Scott and Jeanne Jersey were there playing music for us and of course we were dancing! After dancing for a while, the parade began. What happened was all of the plungers paraded around the beach showing off their team outfitts. Then the plunging began! Jill and I were the only brave ones that actually plunged into the water. When we were wating in line, we were both wrapped up in blankets with only our bikinis and flip flops on underneath. Once it was our turn, we threw off our blankets and ran in up to our knees. The only word to describe the feeling of the water is shocking! It was freezingggg!!

After thawing out and getting dressed, Jill and i got interviewed by NBC 30. One thing that the reporter asked us was what advice would we give to the people who didn't plunge. Our response: "SUCK IT UP!"

It really was a great day and I had so much fun. I do have to say that I deffinetly would do it again!

Today we met with the mayor to give him our official portrait.  He was very happy to get it and said he was going to hang it up in office right away!  So if you ever stop by the mayor's office, look for our 2009 picture! =)

Tonight, we all went down to Forestiville for the annual carol sing. Since Christmas is right around the cornner, this is the last time we are going to be singing Christmas Carols this year. Even though it was a cold night, tons of people came, like every other year. Mary Lynn Gagnon and Todd Armstrong along with a group of singers from Bristol Eastern all led us in singing the songs together. The Forestville Carol sing is always one of my favorite Christmas events and once again was this year.

For the first time today, I went to Wood Acres Farm. There is so much to do there and if you’ve never been, you should definitely consider checking it out! There was tons of arts and crafts to do, hay rides were given, and there were horses and other kinds of animals. Once people started arriving, we were responsible for greeting them and giving them a map of all the activities there were to do.

I had a great first experience today in visiting Wood Acres Farms!

Most of the time, when you think of a parade, you usually think of vendors and people in the parade who walk through the streets filled with people watching. But the Children’s parade is different! Every year, The Bristol Chamber of Commerce organizes a parade where local vendors line the street and children walk down and collect a bunch of different goodies. There are also different characters like care bear and Santa.

While we were walking, we noticed a group of elderly people smiling and having a great time watching all of the children walk by. So, we decided to go in and sing Christmas carols and talk to them for a few minutes. They loved it!

By the end of the parade we each had a bag full of goodies like pens, pencils, and candies from all of the vendors. Also at the end of the parade, the Bristol firefighters were waiting with hot chocolate to warm everyone up. We were all frozen, and hot chocolalte was just what the doctor ordered!
